Spot Pet Insurance Plans vs. OVMA Pet Insurance Plans
Coverage for Prescription Foods
Spot Pet Insurance is committed to supporting your pet's overall health and well-being. That's why our plans can cover up to 50% of the eligible costs of prescription foods (up to $500 a year), helping you manage your pet’s covered health conditions. OVMA plans don't offer this coverage.
No Waiting Periods for Accidents
With Spot Pet Insurance plans, you can worry less about waiting periods for your accident coverage. Enroll your pet and their accident coverage activates the very next day, helping ensure they're protected from the unexpected. Unlike Spot, OVMA plans have a 48-hour waiting period before your pet’s accident coverage becomes active.
Accident-Only Plan Option
Spot Pet Insurance understands that every pet parent has different needs and budgets. Our Accident-Only plans can help provide essential coverage for unexpected accidents, at a more affordable price. OVMA doesn't offer Accident-Only plan options.
Multiple Pet Discounts for 2+ Pets
Spot Pet Insurance understands that having multiple pets is a joy but can also be expensive. We help make it more affordable with a 5% multi-pet discount for two pets, and a generous 10% discount for three or more pets enrolled. OVMA does offer a 10% multi-pet discount, but only when 3+ pets are enrolled.
Conclusion
Spot Pet Insurance offers Ontario pet parents flexible options and discounts for multi-pet families. Our range of plans, from budget-friendly Accident-Only options to prescription food coverage available, helps give you flexibility. Combine that with multi-pet discounts available on 2+ pets and next-day accident coverage, Spot plans help offer pet parents both value and additional peace of mind.

I am glad that I took Spot Pet insurance. Easy and quick claiming. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
Easy to deal with insurance company.
Spot pet insurance has been very easy to deal with so far. They completed my claim within just a couple of days. Highly recommend.
Easy to Use
Maybe they will have direct billing in the future, but it was easy to upload/email the invoices and veterinary notes. Reimbursement was sent within a week. The only thing I disliked was having to call poison control, which charges in USD. Since they don't do conversions, they only paid what it was in Canadian dollars.
